At the moment BSPU acts as a unified educational, scientific and methodological complex, which is the largest centre of the national system of continuous pedagogical education of the Republic of Belarus. The educational institution ‘Belarusian State Technological University’ (BSTU) is a large multidisciplinary educational and research centre of the Republic of Belarus, which trains specialists for industrial and social spheres of the economy in 31 specialties and 62 specializations of higher education, 37 specialties of Master's degree, 27 specialties of secondary special and vocational education and 9 specialties of retraining. About 250 highly qualified teachers work at 20 departments of the University, including about 120 with academic degrees and titles. There is a specialised council for defending dissertations in two specialties. Over 20000 specialists with higher education, about 100 candidates and doctors of sciences have been trained during the existence of the university. At present the university has 3 academic buildings and laboratory building of heavy equipment, 3 well-equipped student hostels.
The scientific potential of the State University named after Francysk Skaryna is quite solid. The total number of employees - 1042 people, including teaching staff (without part-time workers) - 450. There are 40 doctors of sciences, 30 professors, 185 candidates of sciences, 200 associate professors among the teaching staff and researchers.
